Recent Genealogy Discoveries

I have recently discovered additional information about our McAdoo ancestors. I have previously written about the three McAdoo families living on Savery Street, Philadelphia in 1860. In that earlier blog, I built a case for the three families being related. While the evidence is circumstantial, I remain convinced that the relationship is real.

While reviewing Mormon records for Alexander McAdoo, I located the Alexander who was my 2X great-grandfather, William’s brother. The record showed that Alexander was born in Donegal, Ireland. It is probably safe to assume now that our branch of the McAdoo clan emigrated from Donegal, Ulster, Ireland.

I have also discovered that my 2X great-grandparents, William and Sarah had a child, Alex, who was born in Philadelphia, on 30 March 1862. He does appear in the 1870 Census, so I assume he died at a very early age.
